for your fittest sexiest figure

There is no shortage of diet tips on the internet promising to get you that tight toned sexy body but what a majority of women need most is the ability to make those healthy food choices.  The 10 simple no diet tips below work for every woman every time and best of all they also improve your skin, hair, motivation and attitude...

10 simple ways to eat better that don't require following another diet fad:

Get adequate sleep.  Not sleeping enough or sleeping too much can both cause fatigue and false cravings plus contribute to stress, tension and poor recovery from workouts.  If you find yourself reaching for that sugary or caffeine pick me up too often throughout the day then improving sleep habits can fix sugar and caffeine addiction fast.  More about the effects of sleep deprivation in my female weight gain triggers article.

Get the right hydration.  There are hundreds of thousands of beverage options everywhere you turn but most of them are just chock full of fake nutrients and artificial ingredients that your body has no use for.  Instead of reaching for some zero calorie drink in a can or those fake waters try drinking some real H2O.  If you don't like the taste of plain water you may want to try making your own healthy flavored waters with fruits veggies and herbal teas.  According to our Celestial Seasonings Tea factory tour guide you don't even have to boil water!  Just soak your herbal tea bag in cold water for 5 min. for healthy refreshing beverages.   Easy, tastes great plus way cheaper and healthier than store bought flavored waters.  Need more ideas.  Check out ybff facebook pics.

Get outdoors and get some sun.  According to Dr. Marcelle Pick "insomnia, mood swings and food cravings are influenced by melatonin but sunlight shuts melatonin production off, while triggering release of vitamin D."  Getting direct sunlight is the best way to boost D intake, say various health experts and research studies. And improving eating, sleeping and mood aren't the only benefits.  Vitamin D also  prevents muscle pain, weak bones and fractures, low energy, fatigue, weight gain, compromised immune system, depression.  Just 15 min. a day is all it takes More sunshine info and tips in my pms diet sabotage article.

ways to eat better:  get over your bad self already...

Dance sing laugh and have fun every day.  Sure we all go through bad times in our lives that can feel dark and heavy but you don't have to take it all so seriously if you don't want to.  In fact the less serious you are about those hard times the easier it is to move forward and not allow those difficulties to derail you from healthy eating habits and regular exercise.

Get your gratitude on daily.  When you focus on all the good things you have you start to realize that you don't need a lot of the things you think you need to get through the day i.e. that high calorie coffee drink, that handful of candy, that drink after work, etc.  Best way to do this is with a gratitude journal like the one in my speed up fitness results article.  A creativity journal like the one in pic here is also very helpful!

Spend quality time with loved ones.  So many women that I work with in the personal training studio make unhealthy food choices because they feel alone and in need of connection with the people they love.  If you're on this boat the best way to fix this is to plan special dates with people you love that don't involve food, drinking, movies or other distracting activities.  The point is to re-connect and have fun with each other.   You'll be surprised what a little connection with a loved one can do for your healthy eating : )

Take up a fun or interesting new hobby.  Boredom is one of the top reasons women say they eat excess garbage calories and the best cure for that is taking up a new activity.  I can tell you from personal experience that when I took up hiking and aerial trapeze dance both activities completely changed my relationship with food.  Not only did I start making better choices but my portion control became effortless.

ways to eat better:  release what isn't serving you

Detox from food pushers.  In my article on how social media is bad for your figure I explained exactly how social media that focuses on food can wreak havoc on your healthy eating but another form of food pusher is the barrage of diet info from health and fitness magazines.  Not only is this overload of information contradictory and confusing it's preventing you from learning how to trust your own instincts about what foods are right for your unique body and metabolism.

If you're tired of all the mixed messages everywhere simply do what I did and go on a media detox for a year.  This helped me finally figure out the way to eat an enjoyable healthy diet that is right for my body.  Your body is smarter than any information out there and the more you learn to listen to your body the easier healthy eating is going to get.

Makeover your fridge!!!  How on earth are you going to eat healthy if your fridge is constantly filled with foods that don't benefit YOUR unique body.  If you need help figuring out what to keep and what to toss be sure to check out my refrigerator makeover article which includes a hilarious video about what your fridge says about you.

Take a deep breath or two or six.  Finally the tip you've probably been waiting for since I posted a hint about it on facebook...  So according to Art of Living [a non-profit, educational and humanitarian organization founded in 1981 by the world-renown philanthropist and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar] "alternate nostril breathing "helps harmonize the left and right hemispheres of the brain, which correlate to the logical and emotional sides of our personality".  This is great if your the type of person who struggles with emotional over-eating or bad food choices due to bad emotions.Get started with alternate nostril breathing in my breathing exercises for stress  article.
