How do you measure your body makeover progress without making yourself crazy? When trainers say the scale is a poor measurement tool they're usually only telling you that to keep you from losing it and going to town on a pint of Ben & Jerry's after you complete yet another one of their grueling workouts that isn't getting you very good results.


The reality is we all know that the body weight scale measurement DOES matter as much as bodyfat percentage and inches lost. I would be a total liar if I told you that losing 40 lb of scale weight doesn't matter as much as dropping from 32% bodyfat to 18% bodyfat. It feels amazing and for many of my clients (and myself too) scale weight loss is more satisfying than what the bodyfat monitor or calipers usually have to say.

So all that advice about tossing your body weight scale is really bad advice that is masking the bigger problem which is that you may be on the wrong workout plan. Remember that the right workout plan for your body ALWAYS gets visible results from the start and as you progress.

So the truth is that you do still need to weigh and measure yourself and some people may need to do it more often than others to stay on track. How often to weight/measure is a really a personal matter, but do keep in mind that scales and monitors and tape measures are really just small pieces of the bigger puzzle that all needs to come together in order for you to get the body you desire.

There are many other ways to measure your body makeover progress including strength, endurance, health, energy levels, how your clothes fit, body confidence, self esteem, stress levels, pain management, sports performance, motivation, and happiness.

Body makeover success can and should be measured in ALL the ways listed above because it all works together to help you get your best female figure.
